Nine in ten Australian millennials have attended a live event in the last twelve months, according to new research from technology platform Eventbrite. Ninety percent of Australians also believe it’s essential for people to meet face-to-face to effect positive change. UK meetings spend is reaching new heights, according to the first HBAA Meetings Barometer. Average spend is up of 31 percent in the first half of 2017 from the same period in 2016. Just as over 5,000 cruise industry workers were in town attending Seatrade Europe, Hamburg announced that it received three million business event overnight stays in 2016. This brought in over €706 million to the economy. 64,000 events were held, up from 57,000 in 2015, and attracted 1.8 million delegates, 19 percent from abroad. One in three UK event industry workers experience a mental health problem. The national average is one in four. The findings are from a survey for the industry campaign EventWell, which starts on September 18.
