In the Whitsundays off Queensland, the Hamilton Island Conference Centre has officially reopened following a multi-million dollar refurbishment. Hamilton Island CEO Glenn Bourke said the investment demonstrated a commitment to business events. Over the coming three years the Tampa Convention Center will roll out major upgrades, including new and renovated meeting spaces, as part of a $20 million investment. Ground has been broken on an expansion to Seattle’s Washington State Convention Center. The existing building will now be called “Arch”, and the new part opening in 2022 “Summit”. The Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville has reopened following its two-year, $207 million expansion. According to Louisville Tourism, the city’s convention and visitors bureau, 84 meeting groups have been booked since the project was announced. Confusion surrounds a major convention centre development in Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls area, recently launched by Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga ahead of the country’s elections. ICC Sydney has announced that more than one million plastic water bottles have been saved from use via its partnership with Sydney Water.
