Three major legacy-related goals were achieved at this event: inspiring young people to consider careers in one of the growth industries of the future, encouraging informed multi-level discussion of the key issues from families to governments, and influencing policy at the European level.
ENERGY & WATER, an innovative environmental education centre in Copenhagen, organised an Open House for local school children and their families to raise public awareness of wind energy and inspire children to consider a career in the wind sector.
Over 500 children and parents participated in interactive, hands-on activities
A Delegation Visit, including representatives from the European Commission, OECD, the wind industry, politicians, and decision makers, took place to showcase Denmark’s educational model in wind and promote the Teacher’s Toolkit, a new educational resource for teachers in Denmark and across the EU.
A successful collaboration between the wind energy sector and the educational system in Denmark
This Case Study forms part of Wonderful Copenhagen’s ‘Cases from Congresses’ series, supporting selected strongholds of Copenhagen: Life-Science, Green Transition, and Information & Communications Technology.
“From hands-on activities for families to a Teacher’s Toolkit piloted in Danish classrooms, this legacy initiative did more than deliver a great event. It fuelled curiosity, supported skills development, and inspired conversations that will shape the future of renewable energy in Denmark.”
