Beyond its status as Denmark’s leading gaming and esports festival, Copenhagen Gaming Week operates with a strategic long-term legacy model. Built to deliver tangible economic and societal outcomes, the event focuses on four core pillars: business and ecosystem development, cybercrime prevention, neuro-inclusion, and encouraging future careers in the cyber sector.
To support these wider community objectives, the festival delivered targeted initiatives alongside the main event. A pre-event seminar helped 325 senior citizens protect themselves against online fraud and economic cybercrime, while interactive activities introduced high-school students to career pathways in cybersecurity. To support accessibility, the festival paired professional industry mentors with 40 neurodivergent students, helping them develop and launch their own games on a national stage.
Copenhagen Gaming Week’s inclusion initiative sought to empower aspiring neurodivergent students to pursue future careers in game development
A key initiative is Danmark i Spil, a dedicated area showcasing the entire ecosystem of game development, allowing visitors and exhibitors to experience the full development journey – from novice developer to student and startup to established game studio. Over the course of three days, this enabled 150 students and indie developers to gain valuable feedback and access to potential investors, publishers, and industry partners.
