BestCities Deliver Smash Hit in Melbourne

CREATING CONNECTIONS WITH PURPOSE: The BestCities Global Alliance’s annual Forum was delayed from December 2023 to coincide with the Australian Tennis Open, in Melbourne, in January where international associations and the 13 member cities of the Alliance convened to advance positive impact and social legacies from their meetings. Loren Christie, managing director of the Alliance and Board Chair, Edward Koh, explain the sense of community and shared purpose resulting from an action packed week of intense education and networking as Melbourne rolled out its famous blue carpet at the Rod Laver Arena.

The BestCities case studies help associations realise the impacts and legacies possible from their own events.

In this feature video report, The Iceberg is joined by association leaders from a broad spectrum of sectors explaining the benefits of working with cities committed to impact and legacy aligned to their purpose and mission as professional communities. Beverley Williamson – chair of the alliance’s Strategic Business Development Group explains the importance of storytelling through case studies to illustrate how other associations have successfully applied the various tools and pledges to the Madrid Challenge including Caroline Mackenzie of ISHA, the Hip Preservation Society, who shares her experiences in Cape Town.

The Alliance has already published three Case Studies in the past month and more storytelling, including the ISHA experience, are set to follow.
