IAPCO: Storytelling is Key to Advocacy

IAPCO is the global community for accredited PCOs. At AIME in Melbourne this year, the organisation’s immediate past president and CEO of ICMS Pty Ltd, Sarah Markey-Hamm, shares the importance of curiosity in achieving the most potent outcomes – and storytelling – being sought from the organisation’s member-facilitated events. Markey-Hamm and the organisation’s PR lead, Felicity Zadro, explain the points of difference – and value – between peer-reviewed & accredited PCO’s, and those that are not.

Key to Markey-Hamm’s message is the need to break out of the industry bubble – from the echo-chamber of industry to mainstream media where influence on policy and investment is most needed. Her sign off; “How many collaborations ended up in Nobel prizes for science that met at a conference?” she asks.
