Dorian Kronenwerth joined JMIC, the Joint Meetings Industry Council, as Executive Director in May 2026. He leads JMIC’s coordination of its member associations and its collective advocacy, unifying the voices of the conferences, trade shows and conventions sector into a single credible interlocutor for policy- and decision-makers. Central to that work is the Global Manifesto, JMIC’s flagship advocacy document positioning the sector as strategic economic infrastructure rather than tourism. JMIC is also home to the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative, the industry’s collective pathway to decarbonisation by 2050.
Dorian is no stranger to association leadership: between 2018 and 2021 he served as Head of EU Office for VATM, the German telecommunications association, leading advocacy for over 120 operators representing more than €35 billion in annual revenue and engaging directly with EU institutions on the sector’s regulatory framework.
His broader career combines entrepreneurship and international commercial leadership. Dorian co-founded and scaled a global luxury home exchange platform to 3,500 members and 500 properties before its acquisition, restructured the membership model of a Brussels private members’ club to deliver growth and unlock new customer segments, such as the diplomatic community in Brussels, and held executive roles with telecom operators in Belgium and Saudi Arabia. He brings a fresh perspective to JMIC, drawn from outside the sector’s established circles.
Based in Brussels, Dorian was educated at the University of Durham, the College of Europe and Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. He is currently learning his tenth language.
