In 2016, Alicia Yao became the Chief editor of Association Innovative Development, a quarterly magazine owned by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, China Association for Non-Profit Organization (CANPO) for the executives of over 2,300 China National level associations. In 2018, She co-founded China Business Event Industry Committee (CBEIC) jointly with CCPIT-CSC and serves as its Vice Chair. CBEIC is a non-governmental, non-profit institutional platform, an association that drives the development of the meeting industry bringing together PCOs, venues, convention bureaus, tourism authorities, airlines and other relevant stakeholders. In October 2018, she launched the China Congress of Association and Chamber of Commerce in Beijing and holds the position of Vice Chair.
With more than 30 years of experience in the meeting industry, she is the Co-founder of the ICCA China Chapter, former Regional Vice President of PCMA Asia Pacific (2017–2021), and IAPCO Education Manager for China. She also acts as Meetings Ambassador for Hangzhou, Suzhou, Haikou, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
