Head of Business Development, Arinex Pty Ltd

Gillian Taylor has over 25 years-experience in the meetings industry spanning from Australia to the Arabian Gulf. Recently returned to Australia, Gillian is now Head of Business Development and Marketing at Arinex, Architects of Inspiring Experiences, one of Australia’s leading Professional Conference Organisers, and the 2020 winner of the Meetings Events Australia Awards for National PCO of the year

Prior to this, Gillian was Director of Business Development at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC), an iconic landmark for Muscat and the Sultanate of Oman.  As a new hub for Business Events, and  with the Oman Convention Bureau in early stages, Gillian was instrumental in leading the bid strategy within the centre resulting in winning  24 highly acclaimed global and regional conferences in a short time contributing over USD 65 million to the economy.

Prior to Oman Gillian was appointed by the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority to put Abu Dhabi on the Business Events map starting from scratch and her legacy ended with Abu Dhabi being in the top 100 busiest global meetings destinations in the ICCA global city rankings for the first time and finally instigating the formation of the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau.

Previous IMEX Academy Award winner for Africa and the Middle East given  to reflect the outstanding and exceptional service given to the Meetings and Incentive Travel;  3 times SITE (Society of Incentive Travel Executives) Crystal Award winner and various board positions including SITE Middle East and Africa and the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau (now Business Events Sydney). While in Oman, Gillian was invited to sit on the Oman Government Tanfeedh Advisory initiative to develop the Business Events industry and the formation of the Oman Convention Bureau.  Gillian won an Oman Women Leaders Award in July 2019 – part of the World Women Leadership Awards which “recognise the finest female leaders & achievers in organisations which believe in producing leaders”.
